The term, “Dynasty,” can only be applied to some of the greatest teams in NBA history. Many legendary squads have fallen short of this distinction, but the select few who have earned it have done so by achieving sustained dominance.

In recent seasons, many teams have entered the conversation. Some have sealed the deal.

For instance, the Los Angeles Lakers won titles in 2009 and 2010 behind future Hall of Famers Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. Los Angeles also reaching the NBA Finals in 2008, thus completing a three-year period that warrants consideration.

Led by Chris Bosh, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the 2011 to 2014 Miami Heat became the first team since the 1984 to 1987 Boston Celtics to reach the Finals in four consecutive seasons. The Big Three took home a pair of titles.

The San Antonio Spurs have won at least 50 games in 15 consecutive seasons. The only time San Antonio has failed to win 50 games since 1997-98 was the 50-game 1998-99 season, when it went 37-13 and won its first of five championships.

The further in history you go, the more teams you’ll find and fonder your memory will grow.

The question is, which current teams have the best chance to stand out amongst the best and become the modern day dynasty?
