According to Adi Joseph of USA TODAY Sports, Bradley Beal told reporters at Washington Wizards media day that he and John Wall are, “Definitely the best backcourt in the [NBA].”

Not everyone has taken kindly to that.

Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Dion Waiters of the Cleveland Cavaliers believes that Beal pegged the wrong Eastern Conference guard tandem as the best. Waiters believes that he and Kyrie Irving have earned that distinction.

"“That’s nonsense,” Waiters said after practice Tuesday. “(Beal is) supposed to say that, but I know deep down, he’s not messing with me and Ky (Kyrie Irving). I think me and Ky are the best backcourt, young backcourt. That’s all.”"

It doesn’t end there.

According to Diamond Leung of The Bay Area News GroupGolden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry had a different take. In Curry’s eyes, Beal’s response was the only appropriate one to offer.

Curry also answered the question by calling he and Klay Thompson the best backcourt in the NBA.

"“What was he supposed to say?” Curry said Tuesday. “I would have said the same thing. Just like the thing with freakin’ LeBron (James) this summer. What are you supposed to say? I’m going to say the same thing: We’re the best backcourt. He’s going to say that. Russell (Westbrook) said he’s the best PG yesterday. “Everybody’s got to be confident. If (Beal) were to say, ‘We’re the second-best backcourt in the league,’ I’d probably go over there and…rag on him all day, ‘What are you talking about?’ I don’t get caught up in that stuff.”"

Seriously, what did you want Beal to say? “Someone is better than us, so I hope we don’t have to play them.”

No.

For those who enjoy the commotion, Wall added to it.

Don’t hold your tongue.

Through all of the commotion, a legitimate question has been created: which team possesses the best backcourt in the NBA? This isn’t a question of which squad has a superstar and a decent supporter, but which squad has created the perfect balance.

30-to-1. Let’s go.

Note: In these rankings, playing time outweighs role. A sixth man who plays more than the starter will be listed.
