Tough Loss In OKC:

Stephen Curry dropped 37 points on 11-of-18 shooting (6-for-10 from 3-point range), 11 assists and three steals in a tough road game … and the Warriors still lost. That’s because, even with a gaudy stat line like that, the night belonged to Kevin Durant. Durant has deserved to be in the MVP conversation for a while now and with Russell Westbrook out you would guess his already impressive numbers would go up. But Durant has thrust himself into the limelight of the MVP debate, especially after dropping a career-high 54 points on 19-of-28 shooting. In the month of January, Durant is averaging 36.8 points, 5.8 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals.

In other words, it just wasn’t Golden State’s night. Klay Thompson added 26 points and six 3s while Draymond Green had 10 points off the bench, but even the Warriors’ shooting 16-for-27 from 3-point range on the night wasn’t enough to deny the Durantula. It was Golden State’s second loss in a row and the third in their last four games. It almost seemed like it was time to start panicking…
