Coming into this game, the Nuggets had won seven straight games, the hottest team in the NBA. However, the Cavaliers ended their streak by playing their most complete game of the season. Kyrie Irving led all scorers with 23 points, but it was the big men who delivered the win for the Cavs.

Tristan Thompson had a monster effort with 17 points and a career-high 21 rebounds. Meanwhile, Anderson Varejao contributed 18 points and 13 rebounds off the bench for his best game of the season. As a team, the Cavs dominated the Nuggets on the glass, out-rebounding them 58-43. Neither team shot particularly well; the Nuggets went 39.1 percent from the field, while the Cavs were 40.7 percent.
