New Orleans Pelicans: Anthony Davis Continues To Impress

The New Orleans Pelicans finished out this week going 2-1, now standing 3-3 overall. This week, the Pelicans lost to the Phoenix Suns, defeated the Memphis Grizzlies, and beat the Los Angleles Lakers. And man was Anthony Davis phenomenal.

New Orleans Pelicans vs Phoenix Suns L 104-98

On Tuesday night, the Pelicans welcomed the Suns into New Orleans Arena, in a game in which the two had surprisingly switched records; the Suns at 3-1, while the Pelicans at 1-3.
Both teams jumped out to a fast start, turning out to be a back-and-forth first until midway through the quarter when New Orleans ran away with a huge lead. At the end of one, the score was 28-17 Pelicans. In the second quarter though, the Suns were not ready to give up so early, as they fought back, cutting the lead to just four at the half. In the third, both teams exchanged leads, but Phoenix pulled away at the end of the third, making the score 78-69. The Suns continued to build on their lead and held on for the W.

New Orleans Pelicans at Memphis Grizzlies W 99-84

On Wednesday night, the Pelicans traveled to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies inside the FedExForum, with both teams standing at 2-3.
In the first, the Pelicans got off to yet another great start, making the score 33-18 at the end of one. In the second quarter, the Pelicans continued to be in full control, keeping their big lead through the first half, 51-41. In the second half, the Pelicans completely dominated, taking the huge win, making a big-time statement.

Davis said,

"“We came out with a lot of defensive intensity, moving the ball, sharing the ball pretty well, and we got open shots. When we play like that, it is tough for us to get beat.”"

Gordon said,

"“We played really good defense. It gave us opportunities to get fast-break points. We did that all night, and we really hunkered down defensively.”"

New Orleans Pelicans vs Los Angeles Lakers W 96-85

On Friday night, the Pelicans faced off against the Lakers at home, with the Pelicans 3-3 and the Lakers 3-4.
The first quarter was a tightly contested game, as at the end of one, the score was 28-27 New Orleans. In the second, the Pelicans managed to pull away a bit, making the score 55-48 at the half. In the third, the game was yet again close, but the Pelicans still had the lead, 69-66 at the end of the third. The majority of the fourth quarter was very close, but late in the game, the Pelicans pulled away with the victory.
Anthony Davis was absolutely sensational in this game, scoring a career-high 32 points. Davis did everything incredible Friday night; slamming down ally-oops and being aggressive in the lane. Lets just say, he was a complete beast.

Jrue Holiday praised Davis after the game,

"“I mean, he’s the franchise. He’s that guy. He’s the go-to guy, and everybody here knows it. We want him to be that guy. It’s awesome to see.”"
