Welcoming the Slim Reaper

With the pep rally vibes, his introduction at the Footprint Center was one like no other. All led by the excitements of the man himself in the arena sitting aside new owner Mat Ishbia at center-court. Behind them, the wall and framing of Durant with his new teammates. The applause was constant as their new owner welcomed a new day in Phoenix.

While Suns ownership was feeding off the energy of the atmosphere explaining how things went down, the presentation also had a rare sight. Durant became slightly emotional when talking about the tenure with the Nets when thinking about everything that came with it.

The stage was set. Durant’s impending Suns debut was at the brink following this past All-Star break. Many had assumptions of the possibility of it being the first game out the break which was against his former team in the Thunder, but Phoenix wanted the celebratory feeling to marinate. Sure there was giddiness, but Phoenix displayed pure composure in patience of one of the all-time great’s rehab.

Wednesday in Charlotte was the night.
