NBA Trades: 3 Marcus Smart trades based on recent NBA rumors – Dallas Mavericks

Mavericks receive: Marcus Smart, Romeo Langford, 2025 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)

Celtics receive: Jalen Brunson, Reggie Bullock, Dorian Finney-Smith

Whenever Marcus Smart’s name comes up in trade rumors, the Dallas Mavericks are always a team that is mentioned. Smart is from that area and just seems like he’d fit in well with the Mavs.

While building around Luka Doncic, the Mavericks need to be prioritizing two things – shooting and defense. Smart may not be the best shooter, but man oh man can he defend.

The backcourt of Doncic and Smart would be perfectly balanced. He would do an amazing job covering up Doncic’s struggles on the defensive side of the ball.

Romeo Langford has shown some serious potential as a defender, too, so the Mavericks could take a chance on him. Plus, they’d get a future first in the deal.

For Boston, they’d be three quality rotation pieces, with the caveat being that they would have to resign two of them – Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith – at the end of the season.

That’s why the Mavs could likely look to move those two players. But regardless, the Celtics would be getting their potential point guard of the future, as well as two forwards that can help them right now.

Brunson is oozing with potential, and he could provide some more consistency at the point guard spot alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
