NBA: Ranking the league’s best third options: 30. Terance Mann, LA Clippers

Everyone moved back a few pegs once Kawhi Leonard tore his ACL during the playoffs last season. As a result, Paul George became the obvious choice as the team’s best scoring option. So far, he hasn’t disappointed. Actually, we take that back. Not only has George not disappointed, but he’s been one of the best players in the entire league.

The multiple-time All-Star is dropping over 26 points to go along with close to eight boards and more than five assists. Point guard Reggie Jackson has been helping George nicely this season. The former Detroit Piston castaway is averaging over 17 points a night. But while head coach Ty Lue knows what to expect from those two on a nightly basis, their third option comes and goes.

We have a number of players who fit safely into that position but in our opinion, Terance Mann is the Clippers best scoring option behind George and Jackson. On paper, his numbers don’t exactly jump off the page. After all, he’s averaging less than 10 points a night. Still, regardless of his middling production, Mann is their second most explosive scoring option and third-best player overall with Leonard out. He just isn’t as consistent as many would like.
