NBA Trades: One Ben Simmons trade for every NBA team – Phoenix Suns

For the Phoenix Suns to get involved in the Ben Simmons sweepstakes it would take one of two reckless trade proposals. Neither of them quite makes sense for the Suns, and only one of them fits the need for the Sixers. For the sake of the discourse, we will touch on both briefly.

First, Chis Paul for Ben Simmons works in theory, allowing the Suns to get a guard on the same age range as the rest of their core. That being said, the team made the Finals months ago with Paul leading the way and even chose to extend him this offseason. This move is not happening.

Conversely, the front office made it clear where they stood on the Deandre Ayton situation when they chose not to give him a max extension this offseason. Moving on from him before free agency would allow the team to control the progression from here, though Ayton’s fit with Embiid is nonexistent.

Requiring the Suns to throw in players like Jae Crowder and Dario Saric only confirms the truth. These issues hammer home that a trade was never a realistic possibility, before ever getting into all of the entanglements that would be Simmons and Devin Booker sharing a locker room. Best to leave this one alone.
