Atlanta Hawks: Ersan Ilyasova remains unsigned in 2021 NBA Free Agency

Some might forget that Ersan Ilyasova briefly played with the Hawks from 2017-18, but he was a solid role player during his time with the franchise. That practically sums up Ilyasova’s career as he has been on a large handful of teams throughout his lengthy career, serving as a quality veteran to add some shooting and scoring.

Ilyasova most recently spent last season with the Utah Jazz, but he struggled to carve out a role for himself. After appearing in just 17 games, the veteran remains unsigned in free agency, and although he might not be the flashiest name, he could still help several teams. Ilyasova has shot 36.7 percent from 3-point range for his career, having provided some quality floor spacing. Teams looking to shore up their shooting could take a flyer on the forward as a low-risk but high-reward move. At 34-years-old, the forward still potentially has some fuel left in the tank.

One team that would be interesting for Ilyasova is the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves made moves this offseason that signal they want to leap back into the playoff picture next year, most notably by trading for Patrick Beverley and Taurean Prince. While Prince will help alleviate their power forward predicament to some extent, Ilyasova could bring in another household name for good measure. While he will not help fix their defensive issues, he would provide some perimeter shooting for a team that needed it last season and depth at a position of need.
