Golden State Warriors: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
Golden State Warriors offseason move No. 4: Do not re-sign Kent Bazemore
The Warriors signed Kent Bazemore for the same reason they signed Oubre, to replace some of the production of Thompson. Unfortunately, the Bazemore experience was not the one the Warriors were hoping for.
Bazemore had his worst season as far as scoring the basketball goes, only averaging 7.2 points per game. While he was efficient from deep, shooting the ball at 40.8 percent from beyond the arc, he only took 2.7 attempts per game.
While he signed for a veteran’s minimum last season, the Warriors could wait until later in the season to fill this roster spot in a similar way that they have done in the past. This is the best way to ensure that if a player goes down with an injury that they can get the best possible replacement.
They could also use keep this spot until after the trade deadline where they could sign a veteran player once they have cleared waivers. This is a tremendous way to get talent at the lowest possible cost, which is the way the Warriors have to think. If the Warriors can remain injury-free and add an aging talent with a month or two to go in the season, they will be very dangerous.
