Golden State Warriors offseason roster moves No. 1: Find a sign and trade for Kelly Oubre

The problem with re-signing Oubre is that he is going to command a decent salary and the Warriors are cap-strapped. With Thompson returning and Wiggins playing well, there is no role on the team for Oubre.

Another issue with re-signing Oubre is that he is only 25, he is going to want to maximize his earnings while he can, as well as his playing time. Also, there is no guarantee of how well Thompson is going to play upon his return, so Oubre is not going to be guaranteed to play deep playoff basketball.

The best-case scenario for the Warriors is that they are able to sign Oubre to a deal with the express intent of trading him. What is difficult about this scenario is that Oubre has to agree with where he is going.

It would be really good for the Warriors if they were able to leverage another draft pick in this draft. They already have two first-round picks in the 2021 NBA draft and this is the best way that they are going to team over the next season and beyond.
