NBA: The 30 most unforgettable individual playoff runs: 16. LeBron James (2006)

It took LeBron James until his third season to make it into the postseason but once he made it there, he immediately made his presence felt. Another one of the rare second-round runs to make the list, James made it clear as a 21-year-old that he was up to the challenge of beating anyone in the league if he had just enough help and he was never afraid of the moment.

The first victim of the King was the Washington Wizards. Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler proved to be a solid rival for the early stages of James’ career and this first playoff meeting was no different. It took six games to handle the Wizards and the lowest scoring output for James was 26 points. He started his postseason career with a triple-double line of 32 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

Then came a meeting with the back-to-back Conference Champion Detroit Pistons. The Cavaliers took a 3-2 series lead after winning three games in a row (including Game 5 at the Palace at Auburn Hills). Throughout the playoff run, James averaged 30.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game. In his debut performance, James set the table for plenty of runs to come.
