Cleveland Cavaliers

Last Week: Beat San Antonio Spurs 125-101, Beat Oklahoma City Thunder 129-102, Lost to Toronto Raptors 135-115

This Week: 4/11 vs. New Orleans Pelicans, 4/14 at Charlotte Hornets, 4/15 vs. Golden Warriors, 4/17 at Chicago Bulls

As the free fall into another top pick continues, the Cleveland Cavaliers remain focused on who should be a part of their future. Collin Sexton has clearly staked his claim but coming into the year there was some doubt about his fit with Darius Garland. Garland showed again this week that should not be in doubt either.

Against the San Antonio Spurs earlier this week, the second-year guard went off for 37 points, seven assists, two steals and a rebound. On the season Garland is averaging 16.8 points, 5.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game on impressive shooting splits of .449/.401/.848.

If this is the backcourt of the future for the Cavaliers, there is promise in that. They have shown the ability to be offensive hubs waiting for the offense of the rest of their young teammates to catch up. Sexton has taken steps defensively and Isaac Okoro and Jarrett Allen should help on that front. If their upcoming lottery pick can be solid on both sides of the ball, things could eventually turn around. A star is not the goal for them at this point, given the All-Star potential of Sexton and Allen. The goal is just to stay solid.
