Brooklyn Nets: 3 reasons to pursue a JaVale McGee trade – He brings veteran experience at the position

The Brooklyn Nets are arguably the way too early title favorites at this point in the season, thanks to their star-studded starting lineup.

As fantastic as they might be, one of the major concerns currently surrounding the team involves their reserves. The Nets sacrificed a large portion of their rotational players in the Harden trade, and as previously mentioned, the backup center remains a glaring issue.

Brooklyn did use one of their vacant roster spots to sign free agent Norvel Pelle recently, and the 27-year-old big man will undoubtedly provide them with some size. However, he has just 25 total NBA games under his belt, and his experience level is minimal for a team that is all-in on pursuing a championship this season.

If they are looking for a savvy veteran at the position, JaVale McGee fits the bill. On top of being a 12-year veteran, McGee has been a viable contributor to three of the NBA’s last four championship winners. In fact, the 33-year-old won two of his three championships as a member of the Golden State Warriors, playing alongside two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant.

Perhaps that former connection between Durant and McGee could be enticing for the Nets, only furthered by their need for an experienced big man. Either way, the Brooklyn Nets should look to add JaVale McGee to bring another experienced veteran aboard in their pursuit of a title.
