3. Move on from Tyson Chandler

While Tyson Chandler is still contemplating whether or not he should retire, the Houston Rockets should make the decision easier for him by not renewing his contract for next season. The 19-year veteran is pretty much a spent force in the NBA.

The Rockets had one player over 6’9″ last season after they traded Capela and that was Chandler. Despite this, the 7’0″ Chandler was only able to get on the court for 26 games due to the small ball push of the franchise.

In these games, Chandler was only able to average 1.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 8.4 minutes per game. This is a far cry from the level he was playing at the start of the decade. He was an All-NBA selection in the 2011-12 season.

His game simply does not fit the Rockets system. He has taken only 11 attempts from 3-point land in his career. There are several players who take this many attempts in a single game on the Rockets roster.

The Rockets would be better served looking for a stretch-big who can fit within the game plan of the Rockets which will give them a little extra flexibility. Patrick Patterson has just come off contract with the LA Clippers and could be a good option.
