NBA Playoff Power Rankings Week 2: History made on and off the court
By Corey Rausch
Last Week: Lost to Boston 110-106
It is impossible to think of a more disheartening end to a season than what the Philadelphia 76ers experienced this year. Joel Embiid continues to put up numbers and the rest of the remaining roster had only one constant: being inconsistent.
The first shoe has finally dropped. Brett Brown, at long last, has been relieved of his coaching duties. The issues with this organization go much deeper (and higher up) than Brown, but the time had certainly come for a change in voice. He was not the only issue but he lacked a certain imaginative quality that made him expendable.
Given that Philly seems unlikely to part ways with Elton Brand, imagining where they go from here is murky. The two star pieces from the Process are All-NBA caliber but are not a perfect fit. Two of the more untenable contracts in the league belong to Tobias Harris and Al Horford. The Sixers have hamstrung their situation and seem unable to continue to build around their top talent.
If things go their way, some number of trades are coming to go along with a new coach. Indications are starting to point to Jason Kidd being the front runner for the position. And with that, a whole other set of problems begin.
