3. Devin Vassell

The first player the New York Knicks should try to stay away from is Devin Vassell. As a prospect, Vassell has seen his draft stock rise quite a bit during these past few months, as he was not considered as a lottery pick a while back.

Projections have him being selected inside the top 10, though a top 5 selection would be a longshot for Devin. As a result, due to having the eighth overall pick, the Knicks are in the conversation for him.

Even though Vassell is an accomplished perimeter defender, and god knows how much the Knicks could use one of those, his offensive game needs much to be desired.

During the 30 games as a starter for Florida State, Vassell averaged 12.7 points per game. Additionally, his 1.6 assists per game as a guard would make any scout second guess his playmaking skills.

Last but not least, he is built similarly to New York’s own, RJ Barrett, who still remains the cornerstone of the franchise, moving forward. Selecting a player such as Vassell would only decelerate Barrett’s development process.
