Cleveland Cavaliers: Ranking the last 10 first-round picks
9. Sergey Karasev
Sergey Karasev played more games for the Cavs than someone else to come on this list. He didn’t play a ton for the team, though, and ultimately became a bust in the NBA.
Cleveland selected the Russian small forward with the 19th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Most of his rookie season was spent with the Canton Charge, although he did play 22 games for the NBA squad and even made a start. He averaged 1.7 points per game during his brief cup of coffee in Cleveland.
After his rookie year, Karasev was dealt to the Brooklyn Nets in a trade that brought nothing of long-term value. Karasev played two years for the Nets but struggled with knee injuries and was out of the NBA by the end of the 2015-16 season.
Karasev is back in Russia now, playing for BC Khimki in the VTB United League and the EuroLeague. His biggest accomplishment is being named a United League All-Star in 2017 when he was playing for Zenit Saint Petersburg.
The 2013 Draft is a painful one for Cleveland and the Karasev pick doesn’t help matters. Each of the eight picks that followed Karasev are still in the NBA, with one of those players being Rudy Gobert.
