In true dramatic fashion, his best game of the season came in the last game we may see from the Pistons this season. This was the third meeting with the Philadelphia 76ers of the season and Wood had logged 19 minutes and 4 minutes in the first two games respectively. Joel Embiid did not appear in the first meeting so this was Wood’s first true test against the All-Star center.

From the start, Wood was ready to go and he again led all players in minutes (39) and points (32) while adding in seven rebounds, two assists, three steals, two blocks and only one personal foul. As many Pistons fans know, Andre Drummond has regular had foul trouble in the match up with Embiid but Wood was on his game.

Most impressively this was the third straight game that Wood set a career-high in scoring and he was doing it while filling up the stat sheet in all categories. He kept his efficiency up, shooting 78 percent from the floor and made three of his four 3-point attempts.

Asking for much more from Wood would have been foolhardy as he did all he could to keep the Pistons in the game against a terrible style match up. Wood was clearly on a roll and if the season was not halted it would have been fascinating to see what he did next. Hopefully, the Pistons are able to bring him back next season and even more career highs (and possibly an All-Star berth) will be part of the ride.
