Detroit Pistons: Top 5 Christian Wood games of the 2019-2020 season

Wood’s first game against the Thunder was even more impressive than the second even though he scored two fewer points. This game came the day after the Andre Drummond trade and the Pistons were shorthanded on the road. Markieff Morris, Svi Mykhailiuk, Derrick Rose, John Henson and Brandon Knight were not available for the team. Jordan Bone and Louis King combined for 17 minutes off the bench.
Being shorthanded did not deter Christian Wood from putting on a show. Wood shot 10-of-18 from the field (55.6 percent) and a cool 3-6 from distance for 27 points to go along with 12 rebounds and five assists.
Again, no defensive stats is less than ideal but Wood made up for that with only one turnover and two personal fouls. He led the game in rebounds again, being as effective on the offensive glass as he was on the defensive end. Doing all he could to keep possessions alive earned him a positive plus/minus, one of only two Pistons to do so.
While he was not the leading scorer for the Pistons (Reggie Jackson barely edged him out with 28) he was their most effective floor spacer, rebound and passer (a rarity that should not be ignored). In his first game realizing that he may be the most important Piston on the roster Christian Wood delivered.
