3. Anthony Edwards

A freshman sensation at Georgia, Anthony Edwards has jumped the competition to become one of the best prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft class.

Edward’s game is easily summed up by the phrase “bully ball”. This usually describes an overwhelmingly strong big man. Except in Edwards case, he is a 6’5″ 225 pound brute at the guard position.

Named the 2019-20 SEC Rookie of the Year and earning a selection to the All-SEC Team, Edwards quickly put himself on the map with his incredible athleticism and finishing ability. In 32 games, Edwards averaged 19.1 points and 5.2 assists per game.

One of the best portions of his game is his potential on defense. He has great quick-twitch muscles and is capable of keeping himself in front of opponents on the perimeter. His long arms and wide frame make him a difficult player to beat off the dribble and he will certainly be a positive defender at the NBA level.

The Cleveland Cavaliers would have to do some adjusting in order to compensate for Edwards as they already have three young guards on the roster. Balancing minutes between Edwards, Collin Sexton, Darius Garland and Kevin Porter Jr. would be very difficult.

Edwards is too good of a prospect to be restricted in a bench role. This means one of Porter, Sexton or Garland will have to take a backseat or be traded from the team.

A potential solution could be moving Sexton and Cedi Osman to the bench and starting a trio of Garland, Porter and Edwards. Though undersized, this lineup would arguably be better defensively than the one they currently run due to Porter and Edward’s versatility.
