2012 NBA Redraft: How wrong we were in real time

#10 Pick: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Originally: Austin Rivers)
While Kidd-Gilchrist has not had a better career than some of the players left on the board the idea of pairing Davis with his college teammate is too enticing for me to pass up. I truly believe that in the right situation Michael Kidd-Gilchrist could have thrived and we already saw him do so in college alongside Davis.
This would also have been significantly less pressure for Kidd-Gilchrist to be under as the focus would have been on Davis and he could have more comfortably worked on his craft. His per 36 minutes numbers in his rookie season would have looked solid next to Davis. He posted averages of 12.5 minutes, 8.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1 steal and 1.2 blocks and shot efficiently for the majority of his career.
Making Anthony Davis happy was always going to be the top priority for New Orleans and bringing his friend in right off the bat makes a lot of sense. Austin Rivers was a contentious fit from the start and while Terrence Ross may be a better talent I went for a personality fit that I know worked for a younger AD in an attempt to make his transition to the NBA as easy as possible.
