3 questions concerning Cleveland Cavaliers’ future

2. Would Sexton work better as the sixth man?
Collin Sexton has been the root of frustration for many of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ veteran players.
Within the first few weeks of his rookie season, the Cavaliers’ veterans were insisting that Sexton did not “know how to play.”
A full year later and we are still seeing veteran players question Sexton’s decision making. Kevin Love has been seen multiple times shaking his head at Sexton while J.R. Smith and Channing Frye have both openly criticized Sexton’s playmaking ability.
One thing is certain, Sexton is not a playmaker. The Young Bull ranks towards the bottom of the league in assist/turnover ratio and often forces up ill-advised shots.
However, this doesn’t mean that Sexton is a scrub. He currently leads the team in scoring and is shooting an effective 45.3 percent from the field despite struggling greatly from the 3-point line.
There is nothing wrong with Sexton becoming a spark plug off the bench. Not every player can be an all-around superstar. A sixth man role may be the best for Sexton moving forward.
If Sexton plays with the second unit, he can focus more on scoring without the expectations of being a playmaker.
Furthermore, this opens an opportunity for bigger and more versatile players such as Dante Exum or Kevin Porter Jr. to step into the starting lineup. This seems to be the best direction for the Cavaliers to go in.
