2. Boston Celtics

Given what’s occurred over the past week, Lopez certainly fits an area of need for the Boston Celtics.

Not only did Al Horford opt out of the final year of his contract and appears certain to depart as a free agent, the Celtics also cleared further cap space by sending center Aron Baynes to the Phoenix Suns in a draft0day deal. So with their two primary options at the center spot departing, acquiring Lopez appears to be a logical choice.

Aside from former All-Star Gordon Hayward, the core of the Celtics moving forward is extremely young. Jayson Tatum (21), Jaylen Brown (23), Marcus Smart (25) and restricted free agent Terry Rozier (25) have all yet to reach their primes.

Like with the Pelicans, while Lopez doesn’t necessarily fit the age bracket of a number of players on the roster, the intangibles he’d provide the Celtics and their genuine need for both an interior presence and veteran leadership means Lopez presents as an excellent short-term fix for Boston as it attempts to rebuild its roster.
