2. Detroit needs to get Blake Griffin help

The high number of minutes finally wore Griffin down. It took nearly the entire season to do it, but by the end, he looked nothing like the player that went to his first All-Star game in four seasons. Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond are decent role players, but the team needs to put more high-level talent around him to ease his workload. They also need players that are more conducive to the way that he plays.

This team needs more shooters, and after Drummond showed that he couldn’t make that jump as he had hoped, it’ll need even more shooters than previously expected. Griffin was the primary defender on Giannis for a number of minutes, and the team can’t expect him to do that along with initiating the offense for the players around him.

Detroit doesn’t have the financial ability to make the big splash signing of a guy like Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving, but it can still add someone that can help lighten that load in some way. Whether that’s on offense or defense, there has to be more help than there was this season. If they don’t, Blake’s career renaissance that he experienced in 2018-19 will be a short-lived one for he and the Pistons.
