6. RoCo and Dario debut in win vs. Pelicans

Robert Covington and Dario Saric debuted with the Timberwolves on Nov. 14 against the New Orleans Pelicans. Both contributed right away, helping the Wolves pull out a tight 107-100 victory (which was back when Anthony Davis still cared, so it was a good win).

Fans had clamored for 3-and-D players to put around KAT for years, and here was the team rolling out two guys who looked like perfect fits.

While neither had eye-popping numbers in their debut, they combined to shoot 4-of-9 from 3 and played good, smart basketball. Even in that very first game, it was clear that RoCo was an amazing teammate and everybody looked noticeably happier than they had for a long, long time (even with head coach Tom Thibodeau roaming the sidelines).

The Timberwolves have a gloomy history without much in the way to celebrate, so to flip from a miserable team to a cheery one simply because of a single trade engendered a lot of good will. For this one night in November, Minnesota’s new core was undefeated.
