7. Jimmy Butler torches the Lakers

Timberwolves fans don’t like Jimmy Butler, and from all the media reports, it seems like most of the players didn’t either. Nevertheless, it’s hard to deny just how talented Butler is. While he was quite mercurial with when he’d play to start the year, something lit a fire inside him on Oct. 29.

Butler hadn’t done anything special until the fourth quarter, when suddenly he stepped up to duel LeBron James mano-a-mano.

He brought the energy on defense that he’d largely lacked over the prior weeks and turned into a flamethrower on offense, draining five 3s. Butler finished the game with a tidy 32 points on 12-of-20 shooting, including 6-of-7 from 3.

Things soon unraveled completely for Butler and the Wolves as they headed on a long West Coast road trip, but this firecracker moment was probably the last bit of good that Butler brought the Twin Cities during his Timberwolves stint.
