9. Wolves win first game post-Jimmy Butler

It’s no secret that Jimmy Butler severely affected the Timberwolves’ psyche, both as a team and individuals (whatever Butler was saying to Andrew Wiggins day in and day out seems to have zapped whatever little passion for basketball the latter had).

Beyond his ridiculous antics and whimsical decisions about when he would and wouldn’t play during the first few weeks of the season, the team had to get rid of him. When Minnesota eventually traded Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers on Nov. 10, fans felt like a weight had been lifted off their shoulders.

The next night against the Brooklyn Nets the team played cohesively and freely, with everyone looking much happier than they had the previous month. They beat the Nets 120-113 behind great performances from nearly everyone; KAT put up 25 points and 21 rebounds, Jeff Teague had a double-double with 24 points and 11 assists and Derrick Rose poured in 23 points while shooting 3-of-5 from behind the arc.

Despite allowing 113 points, Minnesota held Brooklyn to 39.6 percent shooting from the field, a sign of things to come with a fully healthy roster.

While the Wolves hadn’t yet introduced Robert Covington and Dario Saric, winning after shipping Butler to Philly just felt good.
