1. Noah Vonleh

Without a doubt the most surprising emergence of the season, Noah Vonleh has been successfully filling the power forward spot, as there had been a huge void ever since Porzingis went down with a torn ACL injury.

Vonleh has finally found his groove in his fifth season in the NBA after being widely considered as a bust, given that he was the ninth pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. But Vonleh has been quietly having a semi-breakout season and has put the league on notice.

Vonleh has been averaging 8.4 points and 7.9 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game, making him the sixth-best rebounder in the league among non-centers. He has recorded 18 double-doubles in the 63 total games he has appeared in, slowly putting the league on notice.

After receiving interest from multiple teams before the trade deadline, the New York Knicks decided against engaging in trade talks for the young forward. Vonleh is a player that could greatly help with a team’s rebounding issues both as a starter and as a role player.

Does the fact that the Knicks held onto Vonleh past the trade deadline mean he’s part of their long-term plans? This remains uncertain, though it does depend on the requested payment on Vonleh’s behalf. But at the end of the day, he is a very versatile piece that every team would be lucky to have.
