2. Robin Lopez

This edition of the Chicago Bulls contains few veteran voices. Robin Lopez is the elder statesman of the roster. The issue is, he should be on a playoff contending roster. While he brings a leadership presence to the team, he also carries a $14 million price tag for the season. With his contract expiring, the team hopes to move him before the deadline.

If the front office can add a draft pick to a growing stable of picks without adding long-term salary, it should jump at the opportunity. Another issue with moving Lopez is the expectation that he could be bought out after the trade deadline if he isn’t dealt. Teams may hold out in hopes that he might be available without having to give up assets and potentially sign him to a minimum deal for the remainder of the season.

After Monday’s skirmish with Kris Dunn, it’s clear that Lopez is frustrated. He’s on a bad team in Chicago and is playing the least amount of minutes of his career since 2011-12. He’s not part of the future in Chicago and It’s time for the Bulls to come to a resolution by moving the veteran big man.
