Skills Challenge: Andre Drummond

When the NBA changed the Skills Challenge to a “guards vs. bigs” format, it made the event more entertaining to watch and opened the door for someone like Drummond to compete.

The two-time All-Star, self-proclaimed as one of the league’s last “true centers,” took part in last year’s challenge and lost his head-to-head matchup with Chicago Bulls power forward Lauri Markkanen, who went on to lose in the finals.

Dribbling, passing and shooting long range jumpers certainly doesn’t put the best part of Drummond’s game on display — he takes over 90 percent of his shots in the paint — but the Skills Challenge does give the 25-year-old a chance to put his TV-friendly personality out there for a bigger audience.

Even if he throws up more bricks than Lonzo Ball under the bright lights, Drummond could at least generate a few more sales for his rap album while giving his team some useful airtime.
