Most Valuable Player: Donovan Mitchell

This is really no surprise here, but Donovan Mitchell has been the Most Valuable Player for the Utah Jazz so far this season.

Throughout the course of the 2018-19 season, the Jazz have seemed to go as Mitchell goes, which is obvious and common around the league when it comes to a team’s best player.

In 39 games this season, Mitchell is averaging a team-high 21 points per game, which ranks tied for 22nd best in the NBA. He is also averaging 3.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds and a team-high 1.6 steals in 32.8 minutes per contest.

On the offensive side of the ball, Mitchell is currently shooting 42 percent from the field, 32.6 percent from three, just under 80 percent from the free throw line and holds an effective field goal percentage of 47.8 percent.

On thing with Mitchell that has been one of his downfalls so far this season has been his ability to put together consistent stretches throughout the year, although we still have to take a step back and realize that this is a player who is in just his second NBA season after taking the league by storm as a rookie a year ago.

Of course there are things that Mitchell needs to improve on before taking that next step as a superstar in the NBA, but his ability and willingness to lead the charge in Utah at such an early stage in his career is something worth taking notice to.

Although this award could also be given to Rudy Gobert, who was mentioned in the previous slide as a player who is enjoying a career year this season, the team Most Valuable Player award should go to Mitchell at the midway point in the 2018-19 NBA season.
