2. Andre Drummond’s offense got worse

All throughout the offseason, center Andre Drummond was praised for the work he had been doing to expand his shooting range out to the 3-point line. Through four games, Drummond is shooting the lowest percentage of his career from the floor. He’s currently shooting 45.1 percent overall, which is about nine percent worse than his career average of 54.3 percent.

Drummond is also shooting far more shots than he ever has. One thing that has always helped him with his efficiency has been his muted volume levels. His career-high for a full season is 13.1 shots per game, while he is at 17.8 for this season. Drummond should be allowed to increase his total volume this year, but 17.8 shots per game is far too much with his lack of efficiency right now.

He’s made a total of six shots away from directly at the rim. Drummond is a better offensive player than he has been thus far, but he needs to get back to doing what he does best before he expands himself. If he wants to be the high-volume player that he has been thus far, he needs to be far more efficient, or they should start moving the offense in a different direction.
