2. Find a sidekick

Who’s the best player Kemba Walker has played with in Charlotte?

Marvin Williams? Cody Zeller? Nicolas Batum? Al Jefferson? The answer is 100 percent Al Jefferson, but Kemba only had peak Al for about one season, then he tapered off.

Kemba is extremely underrated, but you simply cannot win multiple playoff series if he’s your only All-Star. If the Hornets want to find some success while they have Walker in his prime, they need to find him a running mate ASAP.

To the Hornets’ credit, they (kind of) tried when they brought in Dwight Howard, but we all know how that went. Nicolas Batum is actually a really solid player, but he doesn’t bring the kind of offensive firepower that is required to be a star in today’s NBA. At this stage, he can’t be the second-best player on a team that makes it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

So is Kemba Walker’s sidekick already on the roster? That remains to be seen. It’s possible that Miles Bridges will be a great second option as he finds his way in the league, but it’s also possible the Hornets will have to make a move by way of a trade or free agency in order to find Kemba the support he deserves.

Some of this is on Kemba, though. He needs to do everything he can to empower the guys on that roster and find a reliable option that he trusts when opposing defenses take away his shot.
