Detroit Pistons: 3 goals for Glenn Robinson III in 2018-19
By Amaar Burton

Robinson has already gone public with one of his goals for next season: He wants to be in Detroit’s starting lineup.
"“It’s a great opportunity for me to go and try to get a starting spot,” Robinson told the Detroit Free Press in July. “Go and try to get those opportunities, those minutes that I’m ready for. I won’t disappoint and I’m just happy to be here.”"

In 181 career NBA games, counting the regular season and playoffs, Robinson has only been a starter 33 times. He could more than double that total this season, but first he’ll have to beat out the likes of Stanley Johnson, Reggie Bullock and Luke Kennard for a starting spot at either small forward or shooting guard.
Kennard and Johnson appear to be penciled in at the 2 and the 3, respectively.
Kennard was the Pistons’ 2017 lottery pick, and had a solid rookie season coming off the bench. Johnson was a lottery pick in 2015 and is going into a make-or-break season. Casey sounds like a big fan of Johnson, suggesting that he could be the team’s top defensive stopper.
Bullock is the team’s best 3-point shooter (44.5 percent last season) who could be an effective sixth man or start at either wing position.
Robinson is the best athlete among the Pistons’ wings. Offensively he’s not the most polished, and he’s not lauded as a great defender. But he’s close enough to be in the competition to start. He’ll have to simply outplay his counterparts in training camp and the preseason, impressing the coaching staff to earn an opening night starting job.
If it doesn’t happen then, however, Robinson can always prove himself to be indispensable during the season and play himself into a promotion.
