2. Jameer Nelson

Before you laugh at this selection, let’s first analyze how much NBA veteran Jameer Nelson could actually bring to the squad.

With George Hill being the only other option, Collin Sexton could wind up getting that starting point guard spot for the Cleveland Cavaliers throughout the 2018-19 NBA season. Even though Sexton looked pretty good in college, this is a grown man’s league.

Rookie point guards tend to struggle during their transition from college basketball to the NBA, especially when they are handed the reins of the team on day 1. As a result, is it bad having even more veteran point guard presence around Sexton? Certainly not!

Jameer Nelson played the first 10 seasons of his career for the Orlando Magic, proving his worth while earning an All-Star appearance and reaching the NBA Finals in 2009, all with the help of his buddy, Dwight Howard.

Since then, Nelson has struggled to find a spot on a team, mainly signing short-term contracts only to be the team’s backup point guard at best. In Cleveland, Nelson can provide Sexton with some much-needed rest, as well as the knowledge and incredible read for the game Nelson carries with him.
