Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 available free agents the team should pursue
3. Jamal Crawford
Arguably one of the greatest — if not THE greatest — bench players of all time, Jamal Crawford has had quite a career as a sixth man. He’s won the Sixth Man of the Year award three times throughout his career, mainly due to him being such a prolific scorer off the bench.
During his 19 seasons in the NBA, Crawford has started just 34 percent of the games he played, dropping down to 32 percent if you take the playoffs into consideration. As a result, one word that could describe Crawford would be “selflessness.”
With the Cleveland Cavaliers currently having too many players dying to prove their worth in the league, Crawford would do the exact opposite, giving head coach Tyrone Lue a break from his rotation struggles.
Last season, Crawford was a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 10.3 points in 20.7 minutes per game off the bench. While shooting a remarkable 90.3 percent from the free throw line, Crawford was one of the few bright spots in a somewhat disappointing season for the T-Wolves.
Demanding nothing more than a veteran’s minimum short-term contract, Crawford would be an ideal option for the Cleveland Cavaliers, bringing some much-needed scoring off the bench and mentoring the young Cavs.
