3. Brown is ready to play right away

In his introductory press conference, Casey made it clear that he doesn’t see the Pistons as a rebuilding project.

“I’m telling the guys now: We’re not developing, we’re not two or three years away,” Casey was quoted by the Associated Press. “We want to win right now.”

Brown can help the Pistons win right now. Measuring 6’5″ and 190 pounds, Brown is built solid. He’s 21 years old with two seasons of high-level college experience in the ACC and an NCAA Tournament appearance under his belt, which is a lot of experience for a rookie coming into the NBA these days.

Brown excels defensively, the one facet of the game that is often the toughest for rookies to grasp. That’s not to say he’ll step right in and be the next Patrick Beverley, but Brown’s learning curve on the defensive end may not be as steep as some first-year players.
