2. Thomas plays efficient and under control
Leading up to the draft, Stefanski indicated that the Pistons were looking for less of a project and more of a ready-made professional.
“We like playmakers, we like guys who can make a play for themselves or their teammates, and we like tough, high IQ kids,” Stefanski told Michigan Live. “That’s what we’re going to go for, [a player] that a coach can put out there and trust.”
Thomas certainly fits that description.
The 22-year-old averaged 15.1 points per game as a junior while shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 41.1 percent from 3-point range. Thomas is not a flashy offensive playmaker, but his game is efficient and he shows a high basketball IQ.
