Overall

The Clippers should leave the 2018 NBA Draft feeling great about their decision-making.

They acquired what should be their backcourt for a long time, with two guards that complement each other with their contrasting styles of play.

The two second-round picks don’t seem like much of anything, though they were a bit much to give up for a player who might have still been there at No. 12.

In Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, they have a guy who can immediately impact the game on the defensive end, and who will learn fast while trying to guard the likes of Stephen Curry and Chris Paul.

In Robinson, the Clippers get a possible go-to scorer that can carry the offensive burden and be called upon late in games.

Some may wonder why L.A. didn’t take Michael Porter Jr., whose potential could make him one of the best players in the draft.

It appears as though MPJ’s injury history proved too risky, especially with a guy in Tobias Harris who presents a similar skill-set and who the team appears to love.

Gilgeous-Alexander and Robinson may not be the high-profile picks that Los Angeles residents crave, but with the ability to produce now and room to grow, they’re sure to make Clipper fans very happy for years to come.
