Chicago Bulls

  • No. 7: Wendell Carter Jr., Duke
  • No. 22: Chandler Hutchison, Boise State

With Michael Porter Jr.’s physicals scaring some teams off, the Chicago Bulls made a fundamentally sound pick, taking the highly underrated Wendell Carter Jr. Frequently compared to Al Horford, Carter is a mobile 5 who can spread the floor, pull down rebounds, make smart interior passes and defend around the basket.

Though he’s not the most athletic guy in the top 10, he should be a good fit alongside the lankier Lauri Markkanen, who figures to fill the stretch-4 role for the Bulls for the foreseeable future. Carter’s ability to lock down the paint, eat up boards and knock down the occasional 3 will make him a key piece to the frontcourt moving forward.

At No. 22, the Bulls surprised approximately no one by taking Boise State’s Chandler Hutchison, who it was rumored weeks ago received a draft promise from Chicago. He’s a late bloomer at age 22, but he’s an improving 3-point shooter with decent athleticism who averaged 20.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game last year. The Bulls could use some clarity on the wing anyway.
