Detroit Pistons: 2017-18 player grades for Reggie Bullock
Strengths
Bullock was arguably the team’s best overall shooter this past season with his aforementioned stat line. Among Pistons within the rotation, he shot better than everyone from 3. From the free throw line, he beat out Stanley Johnson, Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond. He also ranked sixth among all Pistons in shooting percentage. If Bullock is able to repeat this year’s shooting next season, he has the ability to make a good chunk of change for himself.
Ball security was another strong area for Bullock. He turned the ball over less than once a game at 0.8 per game. With the team’s fifth-best turnover percentage, he showed his ability to take care of the ball when given the opportunity. Although he was mostly reserved to a spot-up role, rather than a ball-handling one, he showed that he can handle it moving forward. Turnovers can ruin even the most powerful of teams, such as the 73-9 Golden State Warriors when they blew their 3-1 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Bullock also ranked fourth on the team in steals, behind the three defensive-minded players of Avery Bradley, Johnson and Andre Drummond. Although Bullock was not the most defensively adept, his knack for creating turnovers was great for an average defense. The team finished 14th in steals, but his numbers have improved every season. If he is able to build on that again next year, he and Johnson would create a great defensive wing duo.
Now that we have discussed his strengths, we have to discuss his weaknesses.
