5. Malik Pope, SF — San Diego State

If you’re looking for upside at the end of the 2018 NBA Draft, look no further than Malik Pope. While the San Diego State product never quite lived up to hype that followed him coming out of high school, there are too many physical tools for him to be completely overlooked.

At the same time, it’s difficult to see him coming off the board anytime before the final few picks. Pope had an awful time trying to make his presence felt for the Aztecs, battling injuries and inconsistency for much of his college career after many touted him as a potential lottery pick.

Luckily for him, there’s still reason to be optimistic about his long-term outlook. Not only does Pope boast an intriguing frame at 6’10” and 215 pounds, but he’s a tremendous athlete with good range and the ability to create his own offensive opportunities. The problem is that there just isn’t enough production to truly get NBA teams excited.

The injuries obviously don’t help either. Pope broke his leg twice, tore a meniscus and missed numerous games as a result of his health problems. His inability to stay on the court is going to scare potential suitors away, that’s for sure.

However, with the lingering upside still present, the 76ers should consider Pope at No. 60. It’s not like they don’t have plenty of other selections to fill their roster with. They can afford a gamble.
