6. Pels rally to stun San Antonio Spurs at AT&T Center

Coming into the 2017-18 campaign, the all-time head-to-head series between New Orleans and the San Antonio Spurs was a bit one-sided, to put it nicely. In the 56 games played between the two teams, the Spurs had won 42 of those meetings.

The Pelicans had already notched a win against the Spurs and were looking to continue their success when the two teams met again in late February. Despite the absences of Kawhi Leonard – who played just nine games last season – and LaMarcus Aldridge – who sustained a sprained right ankle late in the second quarter — the Spurs somehow managed to lead by nine points going into the break.

Over the next 24 minutes, it would be a different story. Without two of their best players in the lineup, the Pelicans outscored the Spurs 70-56 in the second half, including a 34-21 advantage in the final frame.

When it was all said and done, the Pelicans turned a 15-point deficit into a 121-116 victory, handing the Spurs their fifth loss in six games. This outing was just the fifth time the Pelicans won on the Spurs’ home floor in 29 attempts.
