2. How sweep it is

The Pelicans weren’t satisfied with merely earning a postseason appearance; they wanted to make a little noise as well.

As a reward for finishing as the No. 6 seed, the Pelicans would be matched up against the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the playoffs. Despite the fact they entered the postseason on the heels of a five-game winning streak, no one gave them much of a chance against the third-seeded Trail Blazers.

But this is why they play the games, right?

Not only did the Pels get past the Trail Blazers, they eliminated them in four games and thus silenced the critics in the process.

No one could have predicted that the Pelicans would have made it out of the first round, especially after losing the second-best player on the team.

But thanks to Davis and Holiday — who combined for 88 points in the series finale — that is exactly what happened.
