5. 17-game winning streak

After dropping a close contest at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans on Jan. 26, the Houston Rockets would put together a winning streak that would last for over the course of a month.

Just three weeks prior to start of the All-Star break, the Rockets captured a 113-102 win against the Phoenix Suns on Jan. 28. Establishing a trend that would continue throughout the rest of the second half, Houston would crush countless adversaries that did not have a match to combat their firepower.

In February, the Rockets put together a month for the ages, posting a 12-0 record, all while constructing their second winning streak of at least 13 games or more. Houston won 17 consecutive games, and surpassed the Boston Celtics for the longest winning streak this past season. They knocked off several playoff teams en route to averaging 113 points per game, hitting nearly 15 3-pointers per contest. They beat teams by an average of 12.3 points to run off the second-longest winning streak in franchise history.

"“This is a veteran team,” Paul told ESPN’s Nick Friedell during the Rockets’ amazing run. “We hoop, we just keep trying to build game by game. You see us during the game, sometimes we get on each other and stuff like that, but we don’t get on the plane and not talk to each other, you know what I mean? We understand that it’s big picture and we’re just hoopin’.”"

Although it might not have appeared to matter much to Paul himself, the Rockets’ fantastic streak proved how dominant they could be when clicking on all cylinders, as the play of the conductor combined with the play of Harden showed just how connected the team was throughout the majority of the year.
