Indiana Pacers: 5 goals for the 2018 offseason
1. Figure out the Myles Turner/Domantas Sabonis situation
Oh, you better believe it’s a situation.
Is it possible to have a core in the modern NBA where two of your three best players are nominal centers by today’s standards? The Pacers seem to be betting that it is.
On the surface, it should work. Both have range out to the 3-point line, and while neither has Anthony Davis-level versatility on defense, Turner is comfortable switching out on the perimeter and Sabonis is passable in a pinch. Indiana may not be crazy after all.
The results say otherwise. McMillan rarely went to a double-big lineup this season, and had good reason to avoid it. In 268 minutes of court time together, the pair had a -6.2 net rating.

If they were going to move one of them, now would be the optimal time. Turner will be demanding a very large contract extension in a few weeks’ time, and he’ll be a restricted free agent next summer. Is there a team in the lottery enamored with him who might be willing to deal their pick in exchange for Turner and the 23rd selection? It wouldn’t hurt Kevin Pritchard to find out.
