4. Maintaining the momentum

Fans of the Boston Celtics have been patient. Not patient to a fault, perhaps, but certainly patient in the long-term outlook of the team’s results. In four postseason appearances, the Celtics have been stymied by the Cleveland Cavaliers on three occasions. On the fourth occasion, the team was turned back by the Atlanta Hawks and the stellar play of center/forward Al Horford.

Now, that same Al Horford plays for Boston.

For two seasons, the team lost in round one. For the latest two seasons, the team advanced all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. This past season, the team fell just one game shy of playing in the 2018 NBA Finals.

To improve next season, the Boston Celtics simply must get to the championship round. That is something this team has never done under head coach Brad Stevens. While the next level is certainly within reach, the first Finals appearance is always the toughest to achieve.
