1. Anthony Davis is the perfect candidate to one day take LeBron’s reins

LeBron James has won a lot of playoff games. He knows what it takes. More specifically, he knows that it takes having the best player on the floor, as he so often was.

He has also made it clear that he intends to play until his son enters the league, which would put LeBron near 40 years old (depending on the future of the one-and-done rule).

As smart as LeBron is, he has to be aware that he will one day no longer be the best basketball player in the world. It will then become more difficult for him to lead his team to victory in a playoff series.

Enter Anthony Davis. Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry may be the closest to LeBron at the moment, but they both are closer to the twilight of their careers than they would probably like to admit.

Anthony Davis is just 25 years old. Over the final 27 games of the regular season, the Brow averaged 31 points per game on 53 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent from 3 — this, while being the best defender in basketball, averaging an absolutely ridiculous 5.5 combined steals and blocks per game.

Davis is the perfect candidate to be the No. 1 to LeBron’s eventual and inevitable No. 2. He can carry his team through a game, allowing LeBron to become the tip of the spear. This is the luxury that Kevin Durant now enjoys. It is also the destiny for twilight LeBron.
